Tajikistan is one of those countries that hardly anyone knows about, me included. I know it is mostly mountainous and home to the famed Pamir Highway, although I had never heard of the Pamir Highway until I started traveling by motorcycle. This part of the journey took me to one of the remotest places I have ever been. That then led me to an extremely remote part of Afghanistan; a country that I never imaged I would actually visit. But I made it and on my motorcycle none the less. Incredible.
Kyrgyzstan has mountains and after the desserts I have traveled the past month it is going to be a welcomed change. In addition there is no visa required so no pressure on time. I am looking forward to doing some hiking, camping, and good mountain riding while in this country. The natural beauty of the country is something to be experienced.
I was not planning on another trip into Kazakhstan but after the debacle with trying and failing to ship my bike from Kyrgyzstan to India I had no choice but to make the trip to Almaty, Kazakhstan for shipment of my bike.
I have always wanted to visit India so I have been very excited about this part of the journey. At the same time everyone has seen images of the traffic. The thought of riding my motorcycle in New Delhi and another 3,000 kilometers to Myanmar is frightening to say the least. On the bright side, after the very dull food throughout Central Asia I am more than excited to finally get to eat spicy food again.
